Abbreviations:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
blosc: back loop only sc
eor: end of row
fo: finish off
Instructions:
Row 1: create a slip knot loop. (Leave at least 10” in yarn handing from your project before your slip knot loop. That yarn will be used to sew the first row and last row together, as well as the bottom of the pumpkin.) Ch until desired height of your pumpkin. Ours was 5-6” in length. Sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each ch until eor. Ch1 and turn.
Row 2: Blosc1 in each st until eor. Ch1 and turn.
Repeat row 2 until your desired pumpkin with. We added rows until we had 10”. Ch 1 after your last st in your last row. Pull through 2 feet worth of yarn. This yarn will be used to sew the top of the pumpkin together and create the bumps/ridges.
Fold your piece in half. Use the shorter yarn end to whip stitch the first row to the last row to create a cylinder, then continue using this same strand and sew the bottom of the pumpkin together to close up that end. After you close it up, knot the yarn to your project, pull it through to the middle and leave it inside your pumpkin.
Add polyfill or scrap yarn inside your pumpkin.
Grab your other yarn end, the longer strand, and sew up the top of the pumpkin. Pull it closed and wrap the yarn around the side of the pumpkin to the bottom, insert the yarn through the middle or hole of the pumpkin then back up through the top of your pumpkin. Pull this tightly to create a ridge. Skip a couple rows and repeat that same process. This will create bumps around your pumpkin to give it that pumpkin shape.
After you have about 5 bumps, knot your yarn end to your project and stuff the yarn into your pumpkin or weave it in.
Glue a stick or cinnamon stick to the center of the top of your pumpkin and you’re finished!
